Where Purpose Became a Movement

Mobile Dental Clinics Australia began with one simple but powerful belief: everyone deserves access to high‑quality dental care — no matter their age, mobility, or circumstances. That belief belonged to our founder, the late Caitlin Wainrib, a compassionate oral health therapist whose vision reshaped how dental care is delivered to some of Australia’s most vulnerable people. Today, that same belief continues to guide everything we do

The Foundation of MDCA

A Pioneer with a Powerful Purpose

Caitlin Wainrib founded Mobile Dental Clinics Australia (MDCA) in 2015 after seeing older Australians (especially those confined to their rooms or beds) excluded from essential oral healthcare. Drawing on her experience across Australia and the UK, including roles with Monash Health and the Victorian Domiciliary Dental Service, she combined clinical expertise with deep empathy. For Caitlin, mobile dentistry wasn't just a convenience but a responsibility — a way to protect dignity, comfort, and choice. Beyond her advocacy for better oral health standards, she was a respected educator and assessor at Melbourne and La Trobe Universities. She was also a passionate contributor to aged care reform.

One Van. One Vision

MDCA began with a single van, a mobile dental unit, and Caitlin personally delivering care into aged care facilities — treating residents at bedside or wherever was safest and most comfortable. By designing services around the patient rather than the clinic, MDCA removed barriers that had existed for decades, giving older Australians access to preventative care, urgent treatment, and ongoing oral health support without leaving their home or facility. Caitlin's approach embodied what remains at the heart of MDCA today:
• Care with dignity.
• Patient-first advocacy.
• Precision and safety in every environment.
• Care driven by real-world impact.

Growing with Integrity

Under Caitlin’s leadership, MDC A grew steadily — never losing sight of its purpose. What started as one mobile clinic became a trusted partner to aged care facilities across Victoria, then Australia. MDCA expanded its services, invested in specialised equipment, trained facility staff, and built a model capable of delivering consistent, high‑quality care in even the most complex environments. Importantly, growth was never about scale for its own sake. It was about reliability, safety, and doing the right thing by patients — values that continue to define our decisions today.

A Legacy That Lives On

Caitlin passed away in 2020, but her legacy remains deeply embedded in the business she created. Her family, colleagues, and the MDCA team committed to carrying her vision forward — ensuring that her passion for equitable access to care would not only continue, but expand. Today, MDCA is one of Australia’s longest‑running and most experienced mobile dental providers in the aged care sector, recognised nationally for innovation, compassion, and clinical excellence.
